Did you know that Butler was the first Black Science-Fiction writer to win the MacArthur Award in 1998?

Butler is amongst few Black Science Fiction writers and even fewer women.  Ava DuVernay is adapting Dawn for television and Amazon has purchased the rights to Wild Seed. Butler’s literary works were bequeathed to the Huntington Library.
