Tabitha Babbitt (December 9, 1770 – December 10, 1853)

TBabbitt believed to have been a member of the Shakers is credited with several inventions that include the circular saw and false teeth.  Because of her Shaker beliefs, Babbitt never patented any of her inventions and therefore it is argued that she did not invent the circular saw at all. However, Shaker lore contends that she did.
