Ida Gray Nelson

Did you know that Nelson was the first Black woman dentist in the United States?

Nelson graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and later moved to Chicago where she lived until her death.  Nelson’s legacy lives on through a diversity grant awarded by her alma mater.
