Black History Isn’t Just A Month, It’s an Evolution.
Claudette Colvin-(September 5, 1939)
Before there was Rosa Parks, there was Claudette Colvin. In 1953 Colvin refused to give up her seat on a crowded bus to a white passenger. Colvin was not given notoriety or fame for the stance that she took, and she says that she would not have wanted it. The Civil Rights Movement is an integral part of Black History because she showed us that doing the right thing does not mean doing the popular thing. Doing the right thing is not shape form or fashion, but feeling that thing in your gut and following it through even when your knees are wobbly, and your stomach is sour. Making history is taking chances.
