Audible Review

Audible is an audiobook service that allows you to listen to books on your mobile devices and computer.

Five things I really like about Audible

  1. Convenience- You can take it anywhere and have hundreds of titles at your fingertips.

  2. Place holder- I was hoping it would work like your Kindle and keep your place when you log in with other devices. It does!

  3. Easy to signup-It was quick and painless. The hardest part for me was determining if I wanted one book per month or two. Decisions, decisions.

  4. Price-I have been an audiobook fan for a while, but I only own three books because of the price. I think that Audible is reasonably priced.

  5. I read all types of literature, but I have to admit that I love African-American Fiction. Audible has a section dedicated to this genre and it was great to see.

Five things I wish Audible Had

  1. More unabridged titles. I don’t listen to and will never purchase an abridged book.  Why would I want the Cliff Notes version of a book that I am purchasing for enjoyment?

  2. Some sort of streaming service for your car or a way to sign in through satellite radio and listen to your books.

  3. An easier way to rewind to a certain point in the book. So, I wanted to go back because clearly I had missed something (I hadn’t but I thought that I had).  For the book that I am listening to the chapters do not align.  For example: The screen will say chapter 10, but the narrator is on chapter 13.  This was a problem for me.  I concede that it may just be this book.   I did notice that in the settings section there are different playback options, but none of them did what I was looking for them to do.

  4. While there is a lock screen option I found that when I used it the book would skip. I couldn’t really understand why the book would skip if it was already downloaded to the device.  Still a mystery.  I just lock the phone now instead.

  5. An option to rent books or pay per month to be able to listen to as many books as you want. Now that would be great!!!

Over all I like the service and I will keep it.  I have not found a comparable service for audiobooks.  I do know that if you have a Kindle you can use Whispersync to transition between the Kindle version of the book and the audiobook.

I have an addiction to books like I have an addiction to shoes and beautiful ink pens. I’m a glutton.  I hope that this helps someone.

I have been researching a project that I am working on, and in looking over documents and watching interviews, it astounds me to hear that a white person during slavery had never seen a black person.

One Hit, I’m Wondering

I always wonder what makes a writer stop writing. I never want to find out from personal experience. I have read a few books by authors that I have enjoyed, and I put them on my preferred author’s l
